Dr Neeland is Director of the University Hospitals (UH) Center for Cardiovascular Prevention, Director of the Translational Science Unit, and Co-Director of the Center for Integrated and Novel Approaches in Vascular-Metabolic Disease (CINEMA program), Senior Attending for UH Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute, and Associate Professor of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.​

He is a general and preventive cardiologist and clinical investigator with expertise in obesity, diabetes, and prevention of cardiovascular disease.​

He is a Fellow of the American Heart Association (AHA) and American College of Cardiology and serves on several national committees with the American Heart Association, including as Immediate Past Chair of the Obesity Committee of the AHA and a member of the Scientific Advisory Group for Cardiovascular-Kidney-Metabolic (CKM) Health and author on the upcoming CKM guidelines. He also serves as an Associate Editor for Circulation, the leading cardiovascular journal in the United States.​
